Product Description

We have carved a niche in this domain by offering SPUM PV Surge Arrester type 2. It is designed in accordance with the EN 61643-11 and consists of a base part and pluggable modules. They are suitable for use in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the boundaries of LPZ 1-2 (according to IEC 1312-1 and EN 62305) for equi potential bonding of positive and negative bus bars of photovoltaic systems. Also, they eliminate transient overvoltage that originates during atmospheric discharges or switching processes. Equipped with failure indication that is partly visual (discoloration of the signal field) and partly remote monitoring by potential free switching contacts (only SPUM PV* DS type).

Function of remote monitor terminals
When the SPUM PV DS is operating correctly, the terminations 1-2 are connected to normally closed contacts, 2-3 are normally open. If the internal varistor component is damaged as a result of thermal overloading, terminations 1-2 will then be open and 2-3 closed.

FAQs:

Q: What is a surge arrester?

A: A surge arrester is a protective device used to limit the voltage surges and transients that can occur in electrical power systems, protecting sensitive equipment from damage.

Q: How does a surge arrester work?

A: A surge arrester works by providing a low-impedance path for the surge current to follow, diverting it away from sensitive equipment. When a surge occurs, the surge arrester conducts the excess energy to ground, allowing the power system to return to its normal state.

Q: What types of surge arresters are there?

A: There are two main types of surge arresters: spark gap arresters and metal oxide varistor (MOV) arresters. Spark gap arresters use a gap between two electrodes to conduct the surge current to ground, while MOV arresters use a metal oxide material that changes its resistance in response to voltage changes.

Q: Used  surge arresters ?

A: Surge arresters are used in a variety of applications, including power distribution systems, telecommunications networks, and electronic equipment such as computers, TVs, and audio systems.
